In this delightful story, we meet the Bad Seed, who earned his name because of his very bad behavior. However, we later discover that he went through harsh life events that forced him to act this way to protect himself from destruction. We also learn that he still possesses many beautiful qualities that no one noticed—qualities that prove he isn't a bad seed at all.
In this funny yet touching tale, Jory John creatively and humorously addresses the ability to change and the negative judgments we cast on people when they act in ways we dislike, ignoring the reasons behind their behavior and the other beautiful traits they possess that may not be apparent at first glance.
This story raises important questions about rushing to judge those around us, the importance of finding excuses, understanding the reasons that influence behavior, and the goodness within each of us that we see when we pay attention and offer care and love. There is a bad seed. He isn't that bad.
